What’s Up Wednesday – 4/24/24

Happy Wednesday! It’s the last Wednesday of the month so I am sharing what we’ve been up to. Let’s get to it!

Linking up with Sheaffer and Shay

WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK…

WHAT I’M LOVING…

We have gotten into a routine of playing a quick round of Racko before we all go to bed. I almost typed before the boys go to bed, but we are all heading to bed around the same time these days.

I am figuring out our spring routine and I love a routine. There isn’t a ton of family time during the week, but we are making up for it on the weekends.

I am loving my Swig party cups. They are a great size and I think I picked fun prints!

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO…

We celebrated Jack’s birthday.

We celebrated Easter and hosted family here.

We celebrated Luke’s birthday.

We watched the solar eclipse.

Jack has been playing a lot of golf and loving every minute.

Luke has been playing lacrosse and soccer and loving every minute of those.

I’m running intervals but running a little more and I’m happy to be doing it. I’m not sure I’m loving every minute, but it does feel good. I’m also doing more yoga to keep my hips and legs feeling good.

We had our fun run at school last week and one of the fundraising prizes was pie-ing a teacher. We had 150 kids reach that fundraising goal. Some teachers volunteered to get pie-d, including me. I was the first chair in the row and got A LOT of pie in my face. It was fun and the kids loved it!

Right in the face!

WHAT I’M DREADING…

The only thing I am really dreading are the frost and freeze warnings we are getting overnight. I wish it was a little warmer already. We were talking at lunch the other day about planting spring flowers. In Maryland, I always wait until Mother’s Day to plant my flowers outside to avoid any possible frost or freeze overnight. We are getting close, but I’m over the chilly temps!

WHAT I’M WORKING ON…

Pool membership stuff. March, April, and May are the busiest months for membership. People resign and I get to send out offers to families that have been on our waitlist for three or four years. It’s a great (volunteer) job! I also get to go visit the pool to show prospective members around. Luke met me at the pool after his lacrosse practice last night and we are both so excited for the pool to open in a few short weeks!

Reading. I am on the committee to select the books for our elementary school Battle of the Books so I am reading the 20 books that are possibilities.

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT…

All of the Summer Beach Read books coming out this spring and summer. I can’t wait to share them with you and read them all myself!

I am excited to go watch Jack play golf this afternoon. I haven’t made it to many of his matches, but Luke and I are going today!

I worked on our summer calendar last weekend and started a list of things I want to do this summer. That has me very excited for summer!

WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING…

I got a little mixed up on Monday night and wrote my reading update for April. Since today is the last Wednesday and tomorrow is the last Thursday of the month, I figured yesterday was the last Tuesday. Oops! I shared my books for the month a week early. I read a lot last month though. The majority of what I’m reading for half of May are kids’ books for work, but they are going to be good ones! These are the three I am currently reading and listening to.

I am not consistently watching anything right now. I tend to reach for a book if I am going to sit down for any length of time.

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO…

I’ve been listening to my usualy podcasts AND The Tortured Poets Department, of course!! I enjoy Taylor’s music and thought her concert movie was fabulous! I am not such a swiftie that I understand who her songs are about, but I am really enjoying it.

WHAT I’M WEARING…

Tuesday’s outfit was Amazon all the way! Most comfortable dress ever and favorite cardigan

I still love my powersoft dresses and have worn them a few times recently. This year’s version of the dress looks very similar.

I am also loving my skorts. I had great luck at Dick’s Sporting Goods last year with their DSG brand. There doesn’t look to be much available online right now, but I bet there are more options in store.

I love these wide leg linen pants from Old Navy. I ordered white and linen, but they were both see through so I returned them. The black pair is a keeper, though!

WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND…

Taking my kids where they need to go. They have soccer, lacrosse, swim, and probably golf. I’d like to repot some plants that I didn’t get to over spring break. Jack starts his lifeguarding class this weekend, too.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH…

So many things!! The pool opens, my sister and her family are coming to visit, swim team banquets, a day off for election day, a bunch of parties, and warmer weather!

Favorite Amazon Purchase…

This little bottle! I have been thinking about making our own salad dressings for a while and of course Amazon had one that was perfect. It’s not too big and has recipes all around it.

I think that is quite enough for today! I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone is eating because I am getting a little bored of our rotation. I’ll be back tomorrow for Monthly Musings and on Friday with my favorites. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I feel the same way as you with the chilly temps-enough already! Love all of your spring outfits and those linen pants are great- I snagged three different colors on Amazon and they are my spring and summer faves now

Oh we have long passed the days where our boys go to bed before us too; in fact 99% of the time they are up long past us! LOL. You are such a great sport to get pied and I am sure the kids LOVED it. We have been having some pretty chilly temps too and while I usually plant between mother’s day and memorial day I’m pretty sure this is one year where I’ll be waiting until memorial day just in case.

That is so interesting how your pool membership works, with people being on a wait list. In Texas, most neighborhoods have a community pool that is covered by your HOA dues. Hope your weather warms up!
